In 1997 Simon retired from dance, joining Chris Jones’ film company Living Spirit Pictures as a runner on his feature film AN URBAN GHOST STORY.

He worked as a production assistant for several film companies before joining Granada Comedy in 1998. A year later, Simon was offered the role of trainee editor on THE ROYLE FAMILY and was shown the ropes by editor Tony Cranstoun.

During his time at Granada, Simon worked with other editors such as Joe Walker, Chris Dickens and Eddie Mansell on shows such as ITV's ZHIVAGO, LENNY BLUE, THE JURY, and two more series of THE ROYLE FAMILY.

Simon was given his first editing job by Andy Harries on the making of COLD FEET and then started his career as a freelance TV and Film Editor.
